Education Appointments and Awards

Lubavitch Headquarters, NY

Rabbi Nochem Kaplan, Director of the Chabad-Lubavitch Office of Education, was recently elected to the Commission on Standards and Review of the National School Council for Private School Accreditation. Rabbi Kaplan is not only the first rabbi, but the first Jewish representative to this top level educational conclave. At a CITA (Commission on International and Trans-Regional Accreditation) conference in Washington DC where he was elected, Kaplan delivered an address on education based on the teachings of the Rebbe.

Chabad’s Rabbi Meir Muller, Director and Principal of the Columbia Jewish Day School and Chabad Rabbi, in South Carolina, was one of five grand prize 2006 recipients of the Scholastic Early Childhood Professional Award. “Though 25 percent of the student body is non-Jewish,” said Scholastic, “Rabbi Muller strives to celebrate and incorporate the diverse cultures into the curriculum. Rabbi Muller’s contributions reach beyond the school into the surrounding community as well. He serves on South Carolina’s Governor’s Child Care Council, as well as a number of other organizations.”
