New Home for Peabody Chabad in the New Year

New Home for Peabody Chabad in the New Year

Chabad of Peabody, Massachusetts, bursting at the seams of its current location, will begin the Jewish New Year with the purchase of a new building. The new location will give them more space to expand their activities, and allow them to keep their existing activities going at the Chabad House.

Rabbi Nechemia and Raizel Schusterman, the local Chabad representatives, expect to close on the building and move in within a few months. “Our current location does not give us many opportunities to expand. The new location will have more room for classrooms for the Hebrew School, a commercial size kitchen and space for a Jewish library.”

The 1.4 acres is a far cry from when they moved to the city, eleven years ago under the guidance of Rabbi Yossi Lipsker of Chabad of the North Shore, and ran activities out of their home.

Speaking to Lubavitch.com between meetings, Rabbi Schusterman described a community that has come together on very short notice, "to come up with the funds to purchase the new location.”

Lynn Shapiro sees the purchase of the new facility, that "will be our own space that the community could call ours. It is just really exciting for the entire community and we cannot wait for it to come to fruition.”
