A new app was launched by Chabad House Bowery, providing students and young professionals in the Bowery area of Manhattan (including students at NYU) with easier access to Chabad’s programming. A one-stop-shop, the app displays a full schedule of upcoming events and invites users to RSVP or book a one-on-one study session with one of their spiritual leaders. Another feature allows students to order a kosher lunch from the Sage Kitchen restaurant, located in the Chabad building, via Chabad’s student meal plan.
With over 200 downloads in its first two weeks, the app also tracks which programs garner interest so administration can better cater to their clientele.
The app is still in its initial stages, and there are big plans for future upgrades. Chabad House Bowery’s strategic advisor, Rabbi Yaakov Zar, spearheaded the project as part of an initiative to improve to the center’s technological systems. “Our dream is for our community members to be able to interact with our programming and content on an individual basis,” he says. “We want to make our daily events easier to access and relevant to each specific user.”
The Chabad House Bowery app is available on Google Play and the Apple App Store. For more information and to support Chabad House Bowery, visit www.BoweryJews.org.
