Seniors

DID YOU KNOW that depression and apathy are not inherent elements of the aging process, and that in many societies respect for the elderly is a societal norm?

In Israel and in other countries around the world, seniors are considered valuable members of society and lead vital, productive lives.  In many nations, however, seniors are neglected and alienated from the general community.  Chabad cherishes the wisdom of the elderly, and in keeping with its mission to promote life-long learning, has established special Torah study classes in communities throughout the world.

Chabad scholars offer classes and seminars on a variety of subjects for seniors at many Jewish community centers, synagogues and Chabad Houses. Thousands of study groups inspire seniors to share their insights, discuss relevant issues and acquire confidence and self worth.  Social gatherings and free walk-in day centers fill formerly lonely hours with vigor and knowledge.

Through Chabad's outreach, nursing homes, often used for "warehousing" the elderly are now offering Jewish residents meaningful learning and social opportunities. Chabad also provides special senior programming for:
