It was an evening of celebration and entertainment at the the Rossiya Concert Hall in Moscow, last night. Some 2,500 guests turned out to the Federation of Jewish Communities’ Man of the Year 5764 awards ceremony.
The awards were issued to individuals who’ve demonstrated outstanding achievements for the betterment of Jewish life within a wide range of categories. Among them were Community Life, Humanitarian Activity, Culture and Charity, Leadership, Education and Information, and included as well, Cinematography, Television, and Journalism.
Recipients received a trophy designed by the Jewish sculptor Frank Meisel.
Russia’s Chief Rabbi Berel Lazar greeted the guests—among them representatives of 200 Jewish communities in the FSU—and spoke of the contribution each award reflects towards the enrichment of life for Jewish people in this region of the world.
