Illinois Governor Bruce Rauner, University of Illinois President Timothy Killeen and other university administrators were joined by Rabbi Avraham Kagan of Lubavitch Chabad of Illinois on a visit to the Western Wall in Jerusalem Tuesday night.

“It is an honor to come to this wall and pray for peace and justice for all people of all backgrounds and faiths,” the governor reflected.

Rauner is in Israel to promote the new Illinois Innovation Network, an initiative that facilitates growth in industry and business, by meeting with leaders of the Israeli Innovation Authority and other entrepreneurial organizations and formalizing partnerships with research schools.

Governor Rauner invited Rabbi Kagan to join the trip during a recent meeting with representatives of Lubavitch Chabad of Illinois, including regional director Rabbi Meir Moscowitz and executive director Rabbi Yosef Moscowitz, that took place in honor of the Jewish new year.

“It is refreshing that the governor made time during his busy trip for prayer at the Kotel.” said Rabbi Meir Moscowitz.
