(lubavitch.com) Mrs. Esty Cohen, Chabad representative in Manchester, England and a young mother of six, passed away earlier this week, at the age of 33. Only six weeks ago, she gave birth to a baby boy. Her sudden, untimely passing leaves the community of Chabad representatives worldwide, in grief.
The daughter of Chabad Shluchim, Esty was born and raised in Albany, NY where her parents, Rabbi Yisroel and Rochel Rubin lead Chabad of the Capital District.
Described by her family as a refined and sensitive person, Esty was dedicated to promoting Jewish life and the mission of Chabad-Lubavitch. As family and friends reflected on Esty, her family revealed that she kept journals since a young age, and which they hope publish in her memory.
Esty’s journal entries have been posted on RememberingEsty.blogspot.com
At age 13, Esty spoke to the International Conference of Chabad women: “I’m just a young girl, but I’m old enough to know that shlichus outreach is not just a bed of roses. It isn’t easy, and there are always new, hard challenges along the way,” she said.
Mrs. Cohen is survived by her husband Rabbi Mendel Cohen, director of Beis Menachem Chabad and her children, Moshe, 10; Mushka, 9; Rivka,7; Chana,4; Yechiel 2, and six-week old Avraham Tzvi.
She is also survived by her parents, Yisroel and Rochel Rubin and 10 siblings.
