(lubavitch.com) At a formal inauguration Wednesday, Serbian Jewish leaders and residents celebrated the official opening of the country’s first Chabad-Lubavitch center in Belgrade.
The Chabad Center, under the leadership of Rabbi Yehoshua and Miri Kaminetzki, opened in Airport City, the largest Business Park development in Serbia, which is nearly completed.
Mr. Gili Dekel, Director of Airport City, installed a mezuzah on the doorpost of the new center. Serbia’s head Rabbi Isaac Asiel, welcomed the Chabad Shluchim and the opening of the center which will serve all of Serbia’s approximately 4,000 Jews.
The new Chabad Center opened under the auspices of Merkos, the Lubavitch educational division with a grant by Lev Leviev, CEO of the Africa-Israel Corporation and Tidhar Group, partners in Airport City.
About 6,500 people visit Airport City daily.
