Artists in the Miami Valley of Ohio are decorating tzedakah boxes as part of a tzedakah box display that is being sponsored by Chabad of Greater Dayton. Artist Joan Marcus helped gather a group the group of artists that will participate in the event that will auction off the more than 30 painted boxes.
A Tzedakah box is a kind of Jewish piggy bank. The idea is to fill it with dollars, coins and spare change that is designated for charity. The auctioned off Tzedakah boxes will raise charity even before they are filled as they are expected to go for $20 and up and will help sponsor Chabad’s educational programming.
