Ohr Avner Student Brings Home A Win

DNEPROPETROVSK, UKRAINE

A student of the Ohr Avner Chabad Day School in Dnepropetrovsk has returned home from Israel with a significant victory to his name. During his visit to the Holy Land, Matvei Tsiryulnikov became the Champion of the Olympiad on Israel’s History. This international competition involves hundreds of pupils from Jewish schools from numerous countries, including those of the Former Soviet Union, the USA, France and other European countries.

Upon returning home to Ukraine, Matvei visited Chief Rabbi of Dnepropetrovsk Shmuel Kaminetsky to thank him for his help in preparing for this competition and for his unrelenting support for the city’s Jewish day school.

Matvei also visited the representative for educational programs of the Jewish Agency for Israel, Uri Ohali. The official congratulated the boy on his victory, wished him great success in his studies, and expressed hope that this would not be his last victory at an Olympiad.

Matvei’s success is not his alone – it reflects on the positive developments that have taken place and continue to occur for the Ohr Avner Chabad Day School and the Jewish community of Dnepropetrovsk, who are proud to call him ‘one of theirs’.
