For its work teaching seniors to navigate the rapidly evolving technological and medical fields, the Jewish Youth Library of Ottawa received a $10,000 grant from the Ontario Canadian Province. The Jewish Youth Library is division of Chabad-Lubavitch of Ottawa.
The grant, made through the Province’s Seniors Community Grant Program, will help seniors understand topics of relevance to them, and how to reach out for assistance. As part of the Seniors Networking and Education Workshop Series, seniors will explore issues of medical interest, social media and elderly abuse.
The workshops will take place at the Soloway Jewish Community Centre, in conjunction with Active Jewish Adults 50+, a volunteer organization.
“By partnering with local non-profit organizations, this grant program is able to directly fund front line supports and services in Ottawa,” says Yasir Naqvi, a member of Provincial Parliament of Ontario. “Our government believes in the importance of helping seniors stay connected, active and involved in their communities by encouraging greater social inclusion, volunteerism and community engagement.”
