(lubavitch.com) Hundreds of the IDF's Givati soldiers on duty outside Gaza participated in a grand Torah dedication ceremony on Tuesday. The event, made possible by Aguda L'maan Hachayal, sought to recognize the soldiers and their dedication.

Brigadier-General Avigdor Kahalani honored the soldiers with his participation. Rabbi Mendy Ofen and Rabbi Yitzchak Kogan's Moscow congregation, the event inspired soldiers as they sang and danced. Soldiers were grateful for the tefillin, a special prayer and learning book, and tzitzit garments that they received as gifts.

In a rare, special appearance, Major General Yoav Galant, Southern Commander in charge of Israeli operations in Gaza, joined the celebration and completed one of the Torah's final letters before donning tefillin himself. He was flanked by Givati Brigade Commander Colonel Ilan Malka, other regional officers and members of Agudah L'Man HaChayal.

"The soldiers tell me that these events give them energy and encourage them to continue," said Rabbi Ofen. "It helps them knowing they have our support."

Regular contributors of Torahs and Jewish religious items to benefit Israeli soldiers, Rabbi Kogan's Moscow community sent letters wishing the soldiers blessings, success, and health in their defense of the Jewish people.
