Tigard, Oregon Chabad Rabbi Menachem Orenstein was sworn in as a chaplain in the Oregon Army National Guard — the first Jewish rabbi chaplain in the organization.

“In serving our community as Rabbi and emissary of the Rebbe, I’ve seen the great impact that Jewish spiritual leadership can have on people, both in good times and in harder times,” Orenstein said. “I believe that military chaplaincy is a natural extension of this mission.”
