Olathe, Kansas—the state’s fourth-largest city—will welcome its first Jewish center, as Rabbi Mendel and Sheina Wenger have moved to Olathe, where they are founding a Chabad center to serve the 1,200-strong Jewish community in the city of some 140,000 people.
Once a stop on the Oregon Trail, the prairie town has grown into a family-friendly city, attracting young families with its lush greenery, abundant parks, excellent schools, and many job opportunities.
The Wengers plan to offer a range of programs tailored to the city’s young Jewish families, including a Hebrew school, a Mommy and Me program, and one-on-one Torah study sessions.
