DID YOU KNOW that there are approximately 7 million North American youths addicted to drugs and alcohol and almost half of the clients receiving help from Chabad’s drug prevention and educational programs are Jewish?
It is with great pride that Chabad-Lubavitch continues to treat thousands of men and women at the Chabad Drug Rehabilitation Center located in Los Angeles. Though non-sectarian, the program derives its framework of values from traditional Jewish teachings, offers a 12 step clinical recovery program and daily therapy. This highly acclaimed program also offers vocational counseling services to help former addicts lead productive lives.
With the alarming numbers of youth addicted crack cocaine, ecstasy, tranquilizers, morphine, heroin and other substances available to often wealthy, educated suburban youth as well as urban populations, Chabad launched Project PRIDE (Prevention, Resources, Information and Drug Education). Project Pride is an innovative, non-sectarian national network of clinically-based drug prevention and education programs for students from kindergarten through high school.
Once the initial therapeutic work is underway, the client requires new and positive associations so as not to fall back into their former lifestyle. In tandem with counseling and therapy, Chabad’s Project PRIDE helps former addicts to engage in healthy lifestyle choices including leadership development, volunteer and community initiatives and sports activities.
