How do we honor the yahrzeit of someone who has given you the tools to transform your life in immeasurable ways? How do you say “thank you” to someone who opened the way for you to encounter the soul—the other’s, but especially your own?
It was a relevant question for many of the 500 individuals who spent the day, Sunday, in thoughtful activity, in a day-long program developed by various Shluchim in conjunction with JLI. Chasidic study, niggunim, a visit to the Ohel, and lectures by various noted thinkers at the Kupferman Center for the Arts in New York, proved an effective way to prepare participants for Gimmel Tammuz, this year marking the 20th yahrzeit of the Rebbe.
Soul Encounters, as the immersion program was named, featured a line-up of notable teachers, scholars, and community leaders who shared their experiences with the Rebbe, his scholarship, and how they sustain the bond between Rebbe and disciple, 20 years later.
