Rabbi Meir Massas of Chabad of Safsufa, northern Israel, recently unveiled his latest project: a unique mitzvah tank designed to pique interest and help Chabad reach individuals across the region.

Located in the upper Galilee, Chabad of Safsufa provides Jewish services for the 20+ small communities scattered throughout the area. The majority of the children in these communities, Massas explains, do not receive any religious education—so Massas aims to bring it to them by travelling through the region in the eye-catching tank, inviting students to learn about their Jewish heritage.

“We’ve received an incredible response,” Massas notes, so much so that he is already planning his next project: running a program for two different age groups (preschool through third grade, and fourth grade and up) simultaneously, which would allow the mitzvah tank to visit each community twice a month.

Chabad of the Upper Galilee is active throughout the year, conducting popular holiday programs, Torah classes, and children’s clubs. The mitzvah tank is the latest permanent addition to their roster of programs—an addition, Massas says, that is taking Chabad’s activities to the next level.
