Jazz in the Sukkah at Columbia

NEW YORK, NY

October 20, 2003

Students and alumni crowded into Columbia’s Chabad Sukkah last Thursday for an evening of entertainment and celebration with a live jazz band.

Kol HaGeulah, a New Orleans band that does a funky “jazzified” approach to Chasidic music, drew more than 60 students to Chabad’s Sukkah Coffee House, working up terrific momentum with improvisations that were, says one, positively “awesome!”

Rabbi Yona Blum, Chabad-Lubavitch representative to Columbia/Barnard, says the event was extremely popular with students. Chabad’s Sukkah was open all Sukkot for students to celebrate the week-long festival.
