Rabbi Yossi Rubin of Clifton Park, followed by Rabbi Abba Rubin of Saratoga Springs, have started a weekly tradition of surprising Jewish residents with a freshly baked challah before Shabbat. The "flying challahs" are delivered to people by request or by random selection.“When elderly residents are presented with Challah, the bread evokes memories of growing up in Europe, and stirs up memories of different recipes for Challah that are not heard of today,” Rubin told the Saratogian. “A Challah presented to younger people represents a new beginning,” he said.
