After 53 years of experience delivering toys to hospitalized children, the National Committee for the Furtherance of Jewish Education rolled out a new summertime drive this June. Yale-New-Haven Hospital was among fifteen children’s hospitals in ten states receiving boxes stuffed with dolls, action figures, chess sets and board games
“In December, before the holidays, everyone wakes up and sends in toys,” said Rabbi Shea Hecht, NCFJE chairman. But with everyone on vacation, and most children in camp, “Now is an important time to be there for the them, to show they haven’t been forgotten."
In Minnesota and Florida, local Chabad representatives brought clowns and hosted arts and crafts fairs on the day the toys were delivered.
