Movie Theater Shuts Down, Chabad School Gets Building

Skokie, IL

September 6, 2007

The Philip and Rebecca Esformes Girls School, a private elementary school for girls in Skokie, Illinois, recently became the beneficiary of a new building for their school as a result of a parking lot rent dispute.

After a huge rent increase in the parking lot adjacent to the Lincoln Village Theater resulted in the movie theater’s closure, the theater’s owner decided to donate the building to the school, reported the ChicagoBusiness.com.

"We are fortunate we got this building," Rabbi Yitzchok Wolf, dean of the school, says. "It's very exciting. We're confident it will be good for the community."
