By , Moscow

Leading rabbinical figures from Israel and Europe  presided at the dedication ceremony of the new offices of Russia’s Chief Rabbinate. The new facility will serve as the home for all of the rabbinical concerns related to Russia’s Jewish popultion, which until now have been dispersed among various locations.

Representing Russia’s rabbinate are its Chief Rabbi, Berel Lazar, leaders of the rabbinical court, Rabbi Shneur Zalman Kahn and Rabbi Israel Birnbaum, as well as Rabbi Yosef Y. Marzel and Rabbi Yitzchak Kogan.

The offices of the Chief Rabbi serve the comprehensive spiritual needs of the nation’s Jewish population including a rabbinical court, a marriage bureau, kosher division, and a host of related religious concerns. It works closely with rabbinical courts in Israel, and has contributed significantly to the revival of Jewish life in the Former Soviet Union.
