Rabbi Yerachmiel Gorelik, adjunct lecturer in the Liberal Arts Department of Philosophy at the Colorado State University, was ranked among the top six teachers by the Colorado State University Alumni Association. The best teachers are nominated by students and alumni and selected by a committee of faculty, students, and alumnus.

Gorelik and his wife Devorah are directors of Chabad of Northern Colorado and serve as Chabad representatives to the university.

“Donning a long beard and a kippa on the crown of his head, Colorado State University’s Rabbi Yerachmiel Gorelik is not the type of philosophy teacher one would expect to walk into a classroom, joking with students in a thick Australian accent,” the university’s newspaper, the Collegian, opened their report on his nomination.

“He is an amazing teacher, very dedicated to his students, he always makes sure that he knows you and makes sure that you understand all that is going on,” Danielle Gelber, said in the official university’s video announcing the nomination. “He wants to really get to know the students on a personal level.”

During the course, the rabbi covers Jewish history, law and Chasidism, with a particular emphasis on Judaism’s contemporary relevance. Students give his class high ratings:

“I was really impressed the way he could take a class that was 2 hours and 45 minutes long, and make it engaging the entire time,” says Kyle Hartshorn, a junior in international studies. “I look forward to the class and enjoy learning about the Jewish faith from someone who is very passionate about it.”
