A series of earthquakes rocked Christchurch on Monday, toppling several building in the city that is yet trying to recover from a severe 6.3 earthquake this past February. Two earthquakes on Monday measured 5.5 and 6.0, but authorities have confirmed no loss of life.

The Christchurch Chabad center – located in the cordoned-off section of the city – sustained major damage in the February quake and was marked by officials for demolition. But Rabbi Mendel Goldstein, Director of Chabad in New Zealand looks forward to rebuilding there, pending action by the city.

“If city officials rebuild the city, then the Chabad center will also be rebuilt,” Rabbi Goldstein told Lubavitch.com after the recent earthquakes.
