The Bar Mitzvah Boy Who Gave Back

A Bar Mitzvah boy in New York has found a unique way to thank his Hebrew School

Hebrew school attendance is a struggle for many Jewish kids who’d rather not give up their free time to attend extra classes. For one boy preparing to celebrate his Bar Mitzvah in Highland Mills, NY, the struggle was how to give back to the Hebrew School he’d attended the past few years.

“I’ve created a set of artwork which I’m donating to Chabad Hebrew School,” Aiden Axler, announced during his bar mitzvah ceremony, held at Chabad of Chester, May 10th. He invited guests to view the four pieces of artwork on display.

Mrs Chana Burston who directs the Hebrew School, which meets each Sunday at Chabad responded referring to Aiden’s artistic talent. “Today you are showing us that you are spreading goodness, using the talents with which G-d has endowed you. That makes us proud,” she said.

The mixed media artworks on canvas, each featuring the hebrew word for life; chai, will be displayed in the hebrew school classrooms.
