Participants dance at EnerJew Shabbaton in Moscow, Russia

At the EnerJew Shabbaton, which took place this past weekend in Moscow, Russia, participants danced and sang along to a popular Russian Jewish song.

EnerJew, the FJC’s (Federation of Jewish Communities in Russia) only Jewish youth movement in the Former Soviet Union, was launched in 2013. It has since grown to include 1,800 teenagers across 25 different cities. The young members of EnerJew actively participate in the development and growth of the program.

“Shabbatonim are a key part of our project,” says EnerJew mentor Igal Kozlovskiy. “Thanks to them, the kids get a chance for a new life full of Jewish knowledge and energy. They spend Shabbat together, learn new things, get a load of energy and make new friends. And with all this, they return to their hometowns, and open up anew.”
